Exciting news! For the 14th year running, the Meals on Wheels network is participating in the 2021 Subaru Share the Love Event. Over the past thirteen years, Subaru and its retailers have helped Meals on Wheels to deliver more than 2.5 million meals nationwide to seniors in need.
Why does Subaru support Meals on Wheels? Too many seniors are struggling to stay independent and healthy. One in four seniors lives alone in isolation and one in seven seniors might not know from where their next meal is coming. This is simply unacceptable, which is why Meals for Friends provides the nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks to the seniors of Wilkens Township and surrounding areas. This vital support keeps seniors in their own homes, where they want to be.
We’re incredibly grateful to Subaru and its Retailers for supporting our organization and the seniors we serve. With that in mind, we thought you might want to learn a little bit more about the Subaru Share the Love Event.

At the heart of any successful meal delivery program is a group of volunteers. Meals for Friends is no different. We are in our fourth year of operation and are proud to say that we now serve over 40 people home-cooked meals three days per week. Those who receive meals live in the Wilkins Township area (including Forest Hills, Chalfont, and Penn Hills), and are either are elderly or are disabled.
We have a strong core of volunteers and are always in need of more. There are many opportunities to fit many areas of expertise. We are particularly look for the following roles to fill:
Drivers -- we are in the greatest need of drivers. The best part of driving is that you get to see those who receive the meals regularly. A driver's shift is typically 9 am to 11:30 am on Monday, Wednesday or Friday.
Kitchen Support
Legal Support
Computer & IT Support
We at Meals for Friends can all say that volunteering is one of the best things about the Program. Do you work a flexible schedule? Does your corporation allow you to work hours to serve the community? Are you retired? Then consider volunteering, for as much or as little as you can offer.
